PEOPLE GROUPS
There are currently around 1,400 Muslim people groups where, as far as we know, there is still no witness to the gospel.
On this page, you'll find information on three of these groups. For more detailed information, visit our prayer zone.
Cyrenaican Arabs of Libya

We know very little about the Cyrenaican Arabs! Much of the region of Cyrenaica in Libya is forested and the soil in these areas produces abundant barley. There are also grassy hillsides and valleys dotted with trees where Bedouins pasture their flocks and herds which number in the millions. The temperature in the area is mild, with adequate rainfall, but a drought usually occurs once every five years. The area has poor roads and communications infrastructure.
>> Pray for people who will increase our knowledge of the Cyrenaican Arabs so our prayers can be more focused. Pray for linguists to translate the Scriptures into Libyan Arabic. Petition the Lord to send these people dreams and visions so that they might see the glory of God in the face of Christ.
The
Seraiki of Pakistan
A gentle and loving people, the Seraiki of Pakistan primarily occupy the south-eastern part of the Punjab region. The several million people who make up this group constitute one of the largest ethnic blocs in all of Pakistan and are one of the largest unengaged people groups in the world.
There were workers among the Seraiki, but after 11/09/2001 there was a significant exodus and now there are no known workers.
>> Pray for workers who will connect with the Seraiki’s deep sense of culture and communicate the love of Christ. Ask the Lord to allow the people to hear and recognise truth. Pray that a Biblically accurate and culturally appropriate translation of the Scriptures will soon come to the Seraiki.
The Gayo of Indonesia
The Gayo make their home in the remote central highlands of the Aceh Province in northern Sumatra. They speak two dialects: Gayo Lut and Gayo Luwes, but they have no written language. Instead, they pass down folk tales and oral stories in the form of poetry.
The main source of income for the Gayo people is farming - primarily coffee farming - while other sources of income are fishing and forest products. The Gayo are also skilled in ceramics and in weaving mats and cloth. They are especially known for their "Kerawang Gayo", embroidery made with colorful and gold designs.
While predominantly Muslim, many Gayo also worship and make offerings to spirits, saints, and ancestors.
>> Pray for medical workers to teach the people about various health issues. Ask God to send native Indonesian believers and cross-cultural workers to the Gayo to tell them the Good News. Pray that the Lord will raise up linguists to accurately translate the Word of God into the Gayo language.
