COUNTRY FOCUS - PAKISTAN

“The scenes here in Pakistan are heartbreaking.

Over 20% of the country has been affected; that’s an area larger than the size of England.”

Picture of flooding in Pakistan

The scale of the flooding in Pakistan this summer was huge – the biggest and most widespread disaster in the country’s history. More than a million homes destroyed, and more than 21 million people displaced or affected directly by the flooding. At one point, 20% of Pakistan stood underwater.

This story is now disappearing from our screens – it is no longer ‘news’. But our teams are bringing help and will be there for the long haul. They are involved in meeting immediate needs - medical care, distribution of food, clean water and household items, repairing and restoring pumps, wells and sanitary facilities, building shelters, and supplying locally made traditional tents for the homeless.

A nation can be changed. God is opening doors for the gospel and it’s time to mobilise many more teams to go and live out good news among the least reached peoples of Pakistan.

Group Picture from Pakistan“God is drawing our attention to these suffering millions who need our help both physically and spiritually.

The scale of this disaster means that we now have increased opportunities to bring in workers with long term vision, to establish and equip work in new areas of the country, among unreached and unengaged people groups.

We have an opportunity not only to fill the stomachs and shelter the heads of those affected, but to bring a second flood, not of water and debris, but of truth and revelation.

All the crops may be gone, but the fields are white for the harvest!”

>> Please pray for many more to hear the call to go and for new teams to form.
>> Please consider giving to help meet immediate needs and to see new teams raised up to go.
