Looking for the next 1,000

In August 2009, over 1,000 of the Frontiers worldwide family gathered together for seven days to worship, be refreshed, learn from each other and be inspired for the future. With people from over 30 nations in attendance it really was a global event . Many were able to give testimony of how Muslims are coming to faith in Christ in places where the gospel has not previously been shared. This is just one brief example from a field member working in the Middle East…

‘Solomon was the first patient I saw at the clinic. He spoke with me and explained how his eyesight was failing due to his diabetes. “I’m not afraid of dying”, he said. “I’m 84 years old, I know where I am going. I was a teacher of Islam all my life. But now, in my last years, I have met Jesus. I know where I am going.”’

Tim Lewis, International Director of Frontiers, reminded us that sandals on the ground among unengaged Muslim peoples cause something to shift and produce change in the heavenlies. The number of pairs of sandals on the ground is certainly growing…

>> We are fast approaching 1,000 field members
>> in 200 teams on the ground
>> working among 125 different Muslim people groups.

We can be thankful for this and all God is doing in Muslim communities from West Africa to South East Asia. But the overall task remains huge...

>> 86% of Muslims have never met a follower of Jesus.
>> There are 210 Muslim people groups (with a population of more than 100,000) where there is still no witness to the gospel.

Pray with us for the next 1,000 who will be available to God’s purposes for Muslims and willing to count the cost.

On the final night of the conference, Frontiers’ members expressed their deep gratitude to those who make this work possible - all of us in sending countries who bring essential support in so many ways.

We pass their thanks on to you who play a vital part in sending, mobilising, giving, praying and providing practical support.
