Pray for Muslims

More Muslims have come to Christ in the last 14 years than in the last 1400 years! Now is the time to pray. Please browse this page to help inspire your prayers for the Muslim world.

The Rohingya

Rohingya Boy

For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help. He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death. He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight. Psalm 72:12-14

The targeting of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar "seems a textbook example of ethnic cleansing", the UN human rights chief says. Around 300,000 have fled to neighbouring Bangladesh, with 450,000 remaining.

Prayer Points

Pray that God would watch over them, take pity on them and save them from death.

Pray for God to rescue them from the oppression of the military in Myanmar, and an end to the violence on both sides.

Pray that through this situation, God would bring many Rohingya people to salvation and that they would find security, identity and peace in Him.

Pray for people who would be willing to go and minister to the Rohingya.

The Bilala in Chad:

100% of this population is Muslim.

The nation has been ripped apart by civil war, and 80% of the population lives below the poverty line. Medical care and services are greatly lacking in this Central African nation, and with the prevalence of HIV/AIDS, life expectancy in the Republic of Chad is just 40-42 years (Prayercast.com).

Prayer Points:

For workers to go to Chad to effectively share the good news with this people group and for the hearts of the people to be open to it.

That humanitarian aid would be brought to the country and to this people group.

Guhayna in Sudan:

94% of this population is Muslim.

The Sudanese Arabs find their heritage in the Bedouin who wandered the deserts of Saudi Arabia centuries ago. They are now a diverse group of 16 million people who find their commonality in the language of Arabic and the religion of Islam. The largest people group living in the North African country of Sudan, they have spread throughout the countries of North Africa and the Middle East, but the majority can be found living in either Sudan or Egypt. The single thread of a common culture binds these Sudanese Arabs with other Arabs from around the world. Aspects of pure Arab life, such as rigid codes of honour, loyalty and hospitality, have remained strong in the Sudanese Arab culture.

Prayer Points:

Pray that fear of persecution from Islamic relatives will not hinder the Guhayna as they consider the Gospel.

Due to the current situation in Sudan, pray for workers to be able to get back in.

The Gaaliin in Sudan

91% of this population are Muslim.

The Gaaliin are the direct descendants of the prophet Mohammed, the messenger of the Islamic faith. It seems more likely, however, that their original ancestors are the Nubians and that the Gaaliin gradually adopted the Arab culture.

Like so many other Sudanese people groups, the Gaaliin follow the Islamic faith, and are generally very committed Sunni Muslims. Only a small percentage of the Gaaliin have been exposed to the Gospel in a positive way. This has mainly been accomplished through penetrations by Sudanese believers into the Gaaliin areas. Churches comprised of Southern Sudanese members and evangelistic outreaches led by national Christian groups have helped reach the Gaaliin. They are a people who are critical in reaching the whole of Sudan, for they are the pulse of the cities and a key stone in breaking through the Islamic grip that holds the nation of Sudan.

Prayer Points:

Ask God to strengthen, encourage and protect the small number of Sudanese Arab believers.

Pray that fear of persecution from Islamic relatives will not hinder Sudanese Arabs as they consider the Gospel.

Pray that the Lord will raise up workers to go and minister among the Sudanese Arabs.

Ask the Lord to raise up many intercessors who will pray regularly for the people of Sudan.

South Asia

Eastern Baloch in Pakistan:

100% of this population is Muslim.

The Eastern Baloch are part of a much larger population of Baluch numbering about 13 million. The various groups speak different languages, each with distinguishing characteristics. Their homeland reaches from eastern Baluchistan to southwestern Punjab, which borders India. This high, dry region was once a very populated country watered by a large number of flowing rivers. Today, it is a barren area of rocky mountains and dry river valleys mixed with desert land. (Joshua Project)

Pashtun/Pathan in India:

100% of this population is Muslim.

The Pashtun are said to be elegant, colourfully attired, hospitable, considerate, fierce in hatred, and kind in friendship. Though very dedicated to their religious beliefs, they are also fond of pleasure. They are known for their marksmanship and their love of honour. (Joshua Project)

Pinjara in India:

100% of this population is Muslim.

It is believed that the Muslim Pinjara converted to Islam about 500 years ago during the reign of Emperor Aurangzeb. They occupy a higher than unclean status and can be found as both skilled and unskilled workers. Very little ministry activity has been focused on the Pinjara. Many Urdu resources are available although there is a severe lack of workers to this sizable Muslim group in India. (Joshua Project)

South Asia has more Muslim unreached peoples than anywhere in the world.

Pakistan

Prayer Points:

Pray for breakthroughs in reaching spiritually oppressed people living in areas currently beyond the reach of a Christian witness.

Pray for leaders of integrity to carefully navigate ongoing tensions with neighbours which threaten the nation's stability.

Pray for the strongholds of Islamic extremism and terrorist violence to be broken and rendered powerless.

Pray for these vast numbers of people who haven't heard the Gospel that the Word of God would spread widely throughout these countries.

Middle East

God is moving powerfully through the Middle East. Read these stories of how God is working and see what it is like to live as a worker in these places.

4 Years in Syria:

My family and I live close enough to the Syrian border that we hear the faint sound of towns being shelled just across the border...

Disciple Making Movements and the Syrian Refugees:

As we walked into this particular Syrian refugee family's home, one of the daughters was mopping the floors. I lifted the skirt of my clothes, as I felt slimy water fill my sandals. I tried not to visibly grimace. As I entered the home I could see a huge pile of moldy bread that filled one tiny room--the family gathered old bread from the trash heaps around town and repackaged it as animal feed. My two teammates, our translator, and I were led into the other room.

Watch this prayer video and pray earnestly that God may draw many Muslims to Christ in the Middle East.
