In a region in South Asia, local leaders from a minority Christian community have caught the vision to reach Muslims with the Gospel. A Frontiers team is partnering with them to train believers to share the Good News, make disciples, and plant churches in Muslim communities.

Two local pastors recently invited our team to come and equip their church members with effective tools for sharing the Gospel and making disciples among their Muslim neighbours.

So, for six months, we offered training in four cities. Dozens of believers in each city attended the training and over eighty people completed the course.

At first, many believers in the training course thought that reaching out to Muslims was impossible. The idea of sharing the message of Christ with them filled their hearts with fear.

But by the end, they all said that they now had helpful tools for engaging Muslims with the Good News.

One of these tools is the discovery Bible study method. It involves reading a Bible passage and asking questions to help people discover God's truth. The questions help them think about how to obey the Word and share it with others. This is a key component for seeing the love for Jesus take root in whole communities.

The trainees had never studied the Bible this way. Many of the Bible studies they had been in were carefully planned lessons. Sometimes Bible studies were used for impromptu sermons. Engaging with Scripture in a way that encourages personal discovery and obedience was a completely new idea for them.

Nevertheless, by the final training session, many of the trainees had befriended Muslims and were sharing the Gospel. A few had even started leading discovery Bible studies. Each person who had completed the training reported feeling less fear and having more confidence in the Word. Some even expressed that they felt God giving them a new calling to focus on reaching Muslims.

Because of the training they received, over eighty disciples are now sharing the hope of Christ and making disciples among Muslims. Moreover, two of our graduates are leading the same training course in six new cities.

We rejoice that God has allowed us to help train local believers to make disciples! It is tremendously rewarding to see our local brothers and sisters equipped with the tools to start movements to Christ among Muslims

  • Please pray for more opportunities to equip national believers to share the Good News in Muslim communities.

  • Pray for the 80+ training graduates to continue inviting their friends and neighbours to engage with God's Word. Ask the Lord of the harvest to prepare the hearts of Muslims to hear the Gospel message and follow Jesus Christ.
