“I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord Almighty” (Haggai 2:7)
As the nations are being shaken through this pandemic, we’re seeing new opportunities for the gospel, both in the UK and overseas. We press on – with increased vigour – to make Jesus known among all Muslim peoples, especially those having least access to the Gospel.
Almost all our field members remain in place. Some travel plans have been disrupted, but most are adapting to social distancing and lockdowns similar to the UK. With local teams, contingency plans and good access to member care, medical advice and our 24-7 Crisis Management Team, we’re supporting members as they pray and respond to the devastating impact on local people, often lacking finance, medical and social care available in the West.
Our UK staff now work from home, meeting daily online to pray. We’re encouraged by new opportunities to meet online for prayer and with enquirers seeking to serve overseas.
Frontiers already has over twenty new projects responding to the needs, working to provide protective equipment, food and emergency funds for those most in need, training local medical teams and supplying low-tech ventilators for the most severely ill. In these and other ways, our teams are seeking to witness by word and deed to Jesus’ love, so that many more may receive eternal life.
With these new challenges and opportunities, there are two ways you can help:
· Pray field members will know God’s protection, wisdom and peace in these times. Ask for insight and provision to reach those around them with the love of Jesus by providing for their physical and spiritual needs. Pray also for their relatives and family members in the UK.
· Hold up our UK staff: to support those abroad to the best of their abilities and to make the most of every opportunity with creativity and new ways of working.
· Pray that those looking to go will use this time effectively, that God will work in and through them in this ‘waiting time’.
We’re very thankful – and praise God – that through the gifts of many, we can continue this work. However, we know many supporters are currently experiencing hardship or financial uncertainty. If you need to reduce giving or feel unable to continue, please let us know – and also please tell us how we can pray for you.
If you can give more to our work, this would be particularly encouraging and helpful. As well as compensating for reduced giving by others, your gift will help us respond to new opportunities to serve and have a lasting impact on the Muslim communities without Christ. Limited healthcare, curfews, possibilities of social disorder and rising food prices in subsistence economies mean basic needs have become paramount.
We have set up a Coronavirus Response Fund to meet quickly needs and opportunities as they arise. Since much of our work is among vulnerable people facing severe and widespread risks from the pandemic, your donation can make a huge difference.
